Frequently asked questions
What applications can I use the machine for?
It is suitable for cutting, rough grinding, deburring and finishing work on metal – wherever precise results and reliable performance are required. Ideal for daily use in industry and skilled trades, even under demanding conditions.
What materials can be processed?
Steel and stainless steel (INOX) are the primary materials these machines are designed for. With the right abrasive, other metals can also be processed. The key is choosing the correct disc for the material and application to achieve the best results.
What abrasives / discs are recommended?
For every application, there is a suitable abrasive matched to the material, process step and desired result:
- Cutting: Cutting discs (metal / INOX)
- Material removal: Rough grinding discs
- Finishing: Flap discs / fibre discs (with backing pad)
- Cleaning: Non-woven and cleaning solutions depending on the application
Tip: Always use INOX abrasives for stainless steel to achieve clean results without contamination.
What does “111th anniversary edition” mean?
This special edition stands for 111 years of Swiss SUHNER craftsmanship. Our classic UWK and UWG models have been reissued as a special edition and refined with the Alpaufzug papercut artwork by Swiss artist Jolanda Brändle. A symbol of precision, tradition and enduring values. Each machine is also delivered with a high-quality multilingual certificate.
Is the machine technically different from a standard version?
The edition is based on the proven UWK / UWG platform. The difference lies in the edition details – design, embossing and certificate – while the technical specifications remain unchanged and continue to meet SUHNER’s high quality standards.
What is the difference between the SUHNER angle grinders UWG 10-R and UWK 10-R?
Both are 125 mm angle grinders with variable speed control. The difference lies in handling, power reserve and design focus for different applications:
- UWG 10-R: The lighter, more agile choice. Ideal for longer periods of use and precise work when low weight and good control are essential. With a front switch in the insulated housing and a compact grip area for controlled guidance.
- UWK 10-R: Designed for maximum power and heavy-duty use. Ideal for high material removal and demanding applications. With a rear switch in the handle, powerful handling and additional motor protection (Automatic Stop).
What safety and comfort features do the SUHNER angle grinders offer?
For maximum safety and comfortable operation, both SUHNER angle grinders are equipped with well-designed protection and comfort features:
- Soft start: Ensures controlled starting without jerking for greater safety and better handling.
- Thermal protection: Helps protect the machine at high temperatures for reliable operation and long service life.
- Undervoltage and restart protection: After a power interruption, the machine does not restart automatically. It must be switched on again deliberately.
The difference lies in the additional machine-specific protection feature:
- UWG 10-R: Equipped with overload protection for reliable performance under heavy load.
- UWK 10-R: Equipped with motor protection (Automatic Stop), which helps prevent motor damage, for example in the case of severe carbon brush wear.
What protective equipment is recommended?
The right protective equipment is essential for safe working. Safety glasses or a visor, hearing protection and gloves are part of the basic equipment. Depending on the application, respiratory protection and suitable workwear may also be required. Also make sure to always use the correct guard and adjust it properly.
