Frequently Asked Questions

What applications can I use the power tool for?

For cutting, rough grinding, deburring and finishing work on metal – wherever precise results and reliable performance are required. Ideal for daily use in industry and at home, even under demanding conditions.

Which materials can be processed?

Carbon and stainless steel (INOX) are primarily suitable. With the right abrasive, other metals can also be processed. Choosing the correct disc for the material and application is crucial to achieve optimal results.

Which abrasives / discs are recommended?

For every application, you will find the right abrasive, matched to the material, machining step, and desired result:

  • Cutting: cutting discs (metal / INOX)
  • Material removal: grinding discs
  • Finishing: flap discs / fibre discs (with backing pad)
  • Cleaning: fleece and cleaning solutions depending on the application

Tip: For stainless steel, always use INOX abrasives to achieve clean results without contamination

What does "111 Years Anniversary Edition" mean?

This special edition represents 111 years of Swiss craftsmanship by SUHNER. Our classic UWK and UWG models have been reissued as a special edition and refined with the Alpine cattle drive ascent papercut by Swiss artist Jolanda Brändle. A symbol of precision, tradition, and enduring values. Each power tool is also delivered with a high-quality multilingual certificate.

Is the power tool technically different from a standard version?

The edition is based on the proven UWK/UWG platform. The difference lies in the special edition label – design, embossing, and certificate – while the technology remains unchanged and continues to meet SUHNER’s consistently high quality standards.

What is the difference between SUHNER angle grinders UWG 10-R and UWK 10-R?

Both are 125 mm angle grinders with variable speed control. The difference lies in the handles, power capacity, and design for different applications:

  • UWG 10-R: the lighter, more agile choice. Ideal for longer periods of use and precise work when low weight and good control are essential. With front switch in the insulated housing and a compact grip area for controlled guidance.

  • UWK 10-R: designed for maximum power and heavy-duty use. Ideal for high material removal and demanding applications. With rear switch in the handle, powerful handling, and additional motor protection (Automatic Stop).

What protection and comfort features do SUHNER angle grinders offer

For maximum safety and comfortable working, SUHNER angle grinders are equipped with well-designed protection and comfort features:

  • Soft start: controlled start without jerking – for greater safety, better guidance, and reduced wear on both power tool and abrasive.
  • Overload and thermal protection: protects under high load and temperature – for reliable operation and a long service life.
  • Undervoltage and restart protection: after a power interruption, the power tool does not restart automatically. It must be manually switched on again.
  • Motor protection (Auto-Stop): stops the power tool in time before motor damage occurs (e.g. in the event of heavy carbon brush wear) – reduces further costs and protects the power tool.

Which protective equipment is recommended?

Appropriate protective equipment is essential for safe working. Safety glasses or a visor, hearing protection, and gloves are part of the basic equipment. Depending on the application, respiratory protection and suitable workwear are also required. In addition, make sure to always use the correct guard and adjust it properly.
